Standing People Designs creates unique items of wood and a variety of other materials in Elbert, Colorado. Bear & Alisa Limvere own the business, and create the artworks you will see. We are both passionate about wood and creating things of beauty. Our artworks may be done on the lathe, carved by hand, or a combination of both. 2012_0005B

Each piece we make is crafted to bring out the beauty of the material and honor the standing person that gave the wood. The woods used in these turnings range from domestic timber to imported exotics. Purchased woods come from reputable and responsible dealers. We also source wood from local tree surgeons and downed trees.

We get many questions about the origin of our business name. In many Native American languages, the word for tree roughly translates as “standing person.” For people that love and work with wood, it seemed a perfect business name.
